U.S. Anti-Corruption Legal Framework

Full course description

U.S. government and private-sector legal experts and Professor Jonathan Rusch lecture and lead discussion on U.S. Constitutional provisions, statutes, and customary norms fostering integrity; criminal anti-corruption laws, including bribery, fraud, honest services, and money laundering, and their enforcement; preventive measures, such as access to information, conflicts of interest, asset disclosure, political finance, whistleblower protection, asset recovery; and the role of key U.S. accountability and oversight agencies and the courts.

Participants may earn CLE credit and a Certificate of Completion in Anti-Corruption Legal Studies listing each course successfully completed, based on class participation and a take-home exam.  Participants may register for one or more of the four classes offered.  Taken together, they provide a comprehensive grounding in current anti-corruption law topics. 

Policies and Processes

Refunds:

Learners will be eligible for a refund (minus any non-refundable fees) if they drop a course and request a refund no later than the day before the course starts as per the dates in Canvas and/or Canvas Catalog platforms. If a learner registered for a course after the start date, they will be ineligible for a refund.

Refund requests will be denied if requested on or after a course’s start date.

Payments and fees:

For payments with credit cards, debit cards or bank accounts, the tuition cost includes a non-refundable 4% administrative fee. In case an eligible refund is requested, the net funds returned will be the tuition minus 4%. 

Notice about these AUWCL Non-Credit Courses:

Non-credit courses are not recorded in American University transcripts. No credit is earned from these courses and grades are not posted. However, upon request, arrangements can be made to credit courses toward an LLM.  Learners enrolled in Non-Credit courses will not receive an AU ID but access to the AUWCL library will be available.
